Party on Smith Street

We had a great time at the Smith Street Festival. Drinking, eating and dancing is the best way to spend a Sunday. Dylan tried her first ear of corn and loved it. A little too much. She doesn't understand you are only supposed to eat the kernals. Instead, she ate the entire top!

Black Bean Cakes

Need a quick dinner for the munchkin? Here's a good one that uses kitchen staples and will make the whole family happy.

Black Bean Cakes

1 can black beans (drained)
1 egg
1 handful grated cheddar cheese
2 handfuls bread crumbs (more if needed to form the patty)
1 tsp. cumin
1/4 cup frozen corn (defrosted)
Sour Cream (optional)
Avocado/Guacamole (optional)

Combine all ingredients except for the corn in a mini-food processor and pulse until blended. I like to keep a nice texture so try not to full puree the beans.
Once blended, stir in corn.

Heat a skillet with cooking spray (I use TJ's Olive Oil spray).
Form the patties whatever size you like and put cook for about 3 minutes on each side or until they are slightly brown on each side.

Top with sour cream and/or avocado.

Your kid and family will eat them up! Yum!

Robo Stir

I've seen it all. For only $19.99 you can have the Robo Stir. "It stirs so you don't have to". I mean, have we really become that lazy?

I will admit it's brilliant if you're making a roux, but does it really work?

Growler Saturday

What's better than hanging out with friends, drinking beer and watching football?
Umm..... nothing?

Although it isn't Fall, it is World Cup Time which means it's Fun Time in Brooklyn. We spend the day with friends over at Triple J's house and everyone had a great time.

Thanks to J, J and J for hosting a rockin' party. We'll have to pick another team for the WC since the USA lost. We still need a reason for Growlers Saturdays and still waiting to try Caputo's pizza dough. Did you know such a thing exists?

Big Gay Ice Cream Truck

After weeks of following the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck on Twitter, I finally found the time to take the loooong walk across the park and try it out. Boy, was it worth it! He's got WASABI PEAS as a topping!

I've been obsessed with The Salty Pimp so that's what I tried. YUM! Something about salt on top of ice cream dipped in chocolate. I can't describe it. You just have to try it.
